Mark M. Scheurer, M.D. is a native of Hyannis, Massachusetts and a 1985 graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy.

After college, he worked briefly in the insurance industry before joining the U.S. Navy to fulfill a dream of flying. During flight training he earned both the Golden Tailhook Award for the top carrier landing performance and the Best Bomber Award for the best air-to-ground ordnance delivery in his class. After designation as a pilot (a Naval Aviator) in Beeville, Texas, he flew F-14 Tomcats in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Subsequently, he attended medical school at The Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) in Bethesda, Maryland and received his M.D. degree in 1995. While at USUHS, he received awards for the most outstanding academic performance in his class in the fields of Preventive Medicine and Physiology.

He completed a General Surgery internship at the San Diego Naval Hospital and then moved to Meridian, Mississippi where he flew the A-4 Skyhawk and provided Primary Care, Aerospace, and Preventive Medicine services to his squadron. He also worked as an Emergency Medicine staff physician at the Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian from 1997-2001.

Dr. Scheurer returned to San Diego in 2001 for a residency in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery at the San Diego Naval Hospital and graduated in 2006. He remained in the San Diego area after residency and provided ENT, Aerospace and Preventive Medicine services to helicopter squadrons at NAS North Island in Coronado, California, while learning to fly the MH-60S Seahawk helicopter.

He retired from the Navy in 2011 and entered private practice. After retirement he also developed an interest in inventing medical devices to better treat certain causes of deafness and was awarded his first patent in September 2014. He then started the process of building a company to commercialize and implement his devices.

Dr. Scheurer has remained as passionate today about the study of medicine and its application to improve your health as when he began many years ago and hopes to serve you in your journey toward better health.
